Katie Hodgkinson works as a Junior Researcher and Research Programme Assistant at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research. She currently works on two projects at AISSR: The first, “Her Choice”, is a programme working to create child marriage-free communities in eleven countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. The second is a research project commissioned by SOS Children’s Villages Netherlands into the social exclusion of vulnerable youth (youth in and from care settings) taking place in six countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. Katie has a Masters degree in International Development Studies (University of Amsterdam) where her thesis explored the needs and challenges of displaced young people living on the Thai-Burmese border and the role of educational initiatives in meeting these needs.
